Street Talk

Street Talk is the New Zealand Transport Agency developed and approved course of advanced driving skills to reduce the NZ Class 1 Restricted Licence period by 6 months for the under 25 year old driver, and 3 months for those over 25 years old. The course is applicable to both NZ Class 1 (Car) and NZ Class 6 (Motorcycle) licences. 

By completing a Street Talk course the minimum age for a NZ Class 1 Full Licence can be reduced from 18 years to 17½ years.

The Street Talk course can be done once the candidate has obtained their NZ Class 1 Learners Licence or NZ Class 1 Restricted Licence.

In order to do this course the candidate needs to hold as a minimum a NZ Class 1 Learners Licence.

This course is NZTA approved for the Graduated Driver Licencing system for cars and motorcycles.

Duration: 4 Days (Over 2 weeks)

This course consists of 4 two-hour sessions of classroom theory and a 1 hour practical session, which is preparation for the Full Licence test.

NOTE:
Street Talk graduates can also be credited with Unit Standard 3464 on the NZQA qualifications framework.
By sitting the Street Talk course only you don't gain 3464. If you are wanting to gain 3464 then you will be required to complete a further theory assessment and you must request this prior to commencement of the course.
