4WD 2 Day Course

About this Course
NZ Full Class 1 Licence allows you to drive any 4WD vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of less than 6,000kg.
Course Prerequisites
You must hold a minimum of NZ Full Class 1 (car) Licence and supply your own 4WD vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE: Your 4WD vehicle must be road registered and compliant.
Course Outline
Duration: 2 days
You will cover driving techniques to improve confidence behind wheel and get to know more of what your vehicles capabilities are. During the course we will cover vehicle pre checks, driving on unsealed and off-road situations, ascending and descending gradients, water crossing, hill stall recovery as well as vehicle recovery.
The theory will take approximately 8 hours to complete where we will cover types of 4WD vehicles and their differences, basics of suspension set ups, diffs and transmissions how to operate in an off-road environment and safety tips. Info on river crossings and hazards.
By the end of the course you will be comfortable in driving a 4WD vehicle in an off road situation
This course is designed to meet the needs of drivers who drive 4-Wheel Drive type vehicles as either a part of their employment, or just for entertainment.
This course includes a 2 days of theory and a practical, and covers the following unit standards:
US 20848 - Demonstrate knowledge of and skills for driving a light 4wd vehicle on road
US 17976 - Demonstrate knowledge of operating a light 4wd vehicle in an off road environment
US 17676 - Carry out a pre drive vehicle check up on a light motor vehicle, start it up and shut it down
US 17678 - Drive a light motor vehicle on unsealed road surface
US 17978 - Operate a light 4wd vehicle in an off road environment
